Parent Programs
The goal
of the Chicopee Public Schools Title I Program is to encourage parents to become
involved in the education of their children in partnership with Title I and
their schools.
GED Review – GED Review Classes are available for
parents of students in Title I Schools. For more information call
Effective Parenting Classes – Title I offers video workshops for
parents using the following programs: 123 Magic, Raising Children In Troubled Times, and Parenting Skills That Work. Some
of the topics available are: Homework, Bedtimes, Lying, Studying, School
Behavior, Peers, Chores, and more. For more information contact

Parents
Academy –This program is
very popular with parents. Parents
attend workshops
geared towards increasing their child’s academic
achievement. Childcare is provided and a
light breakfast and lunch is provided.

Other Workshops – Other workshops are available upon

Parent/Child Activities
Bingo for Books – Our most popular program. This Family
Literacy Program is held in all Title I schools throughout the school year.
Word "Bingo" is played and winners receive books as prizes. Watch for
flyers sent home with students announcing dates and times or call your child’s
school or the Title I office at
Branch Out & Read – A parent/child reading program that
explains to parents the importance of reading aloud with their children at
home. This six week program has been very popular in most Title I schools. For

Author and/or Character Nights - (Jan Brett, Arthur, Clifford, etc.)
Getting Ready for Bellamy - (for 5th grade students entering Bellamy)
Family Math/Literacy Nights - (in conjunction with parent liaisons)
